A Reflective Analysis: Are White Child Development Theorists Relevant to 21st Century Black Children?
Early Childhood Education programs across the country often emphasize the theories of White traditional child psychologists. The inclusion of psychologists of color with similar lived and shared experiences as children of color is significantly beneficial; however, these psychologists are often not included in discussions of child development theory. Also included are teachings of Black psychologists from an African centered framework, which provide relevant and essential knowledge for the effective education of Black children.
